What are the types of transformers?
Author:
1、 Classified by purpose
Power transformer: mainly used in the power system to perform voltage rise and fall transformation and transmit electrical energy.
Special transformers: including instrument transformers (such as current transformers, voltage transformers), rectifier transformers, electric furnace transformers, welding transformers, regulating transformers, test transformers, mining transformers, audio transformers, intermediate frequency transformers, high-frequency transformers, etc. These transformers have specific purposes and performance requirements.
2、 Classified by phase number
Single phase transformer: used in single-phase AC circuits, where both input and output voltages are single-phase.
Three phase transformer: used in three-phase AC circuits, with both input and output voltages being three-phase. Three phase transformers are widely used in power systems and have advantages such as high efficiency, small size, and light weight.
3、 Classified by winding form
Double winding transformer: It has two windings, high voltage winding and low voltage winding, used to achieve voltage rise and fall transformation.
Three winding transformer: It has three windings of high voltage, medium voltage, and low voltage, which can simultaneously meet the needs of multiple voltage levels.
Autotransformer: With only one winding but different taps, it can achieve voltage regulation and transformation. Autotransformers have the advantages of small size, light weight, and low cost, but their safety is relatively low.
4、 Classified by cooling method
Dry type transformer: relying on natural air cooling or forced air cooling, suitable for occasions with special requirements for fire and explosion prevention.
Oil immersed transformer: using transformer oil as a cooling medium, it has good heat dissipation and insulation performance. Oil immersed transformers are widely used in power systems, but attention should be paid to preventing oil leakage and fire risks.
5、 Classified by iron core structure
Core type transformer: The core is closed, the magnetic circuit is short, and the loss is small. Core transformers are suitable for high-capacity and high-efficiency applications.
Shell type transformer: The iron core is open, the magnetic circuit is long, but the structure is compact, suitable for situations with small capacity and limited space.
6、 Classified by insulation medium
Oil immersed transformer: Using transformer oil as the insulation medium, it has good insulation and heat dissipation properties.
Dry type transformer: using air or other gases as insulation medium, suitable for occasions with special requirements for fire and explosion prevention. In addition, there are also types such as epoxy resin cast dry-type transformers.
7、 Classified by voltage regulation method
Off load voltage regulating transformer: voltage regulation is carried out in the event of a power outage or non operation of the transformer.
On load voltage regulating transformer: voltage regulation is carried out when the transformer is running with electricity, which has the advantages of convenient regulation and stable voltage.
